HI-5 Guidelines

Help save time and keep you and our employees safe by taking these simple steps to prepare your recyclables BEFORE bringing them to Mr. K's.

Labels

Each container must have a HI 5¢ label. If the label has fallen off, it can be placed inside the container.

Clean

Containers must be emptied of contents and debris.

Sorted

The transaction moves quickly if your HI-5 containers are already sorted when you arrive. Please separate by type: cans, glass, plastic, bi-metal.

Caps

The State of Hawai'i requires that all caps be removed. Be sure to throw them away before bringing in your recyclables.

Count

The State of Hawai'i allows customers to request hand counts up to 200 containers.

NOT a HI-5 Glass Beverage Container?
     Recycling is sustainable only as a volume business. This means we rely on you to do the sorting in order to manage costs. If you're not sure if something is recyclable, leave it out and ensure that 100% of what you bring in is acceptable.
